How congestion charge capture works
The moment a new job is created in your job management system, Build Concierge gets to work.
- It reads the job. The job reference is used to retrieve the full record, including the site postcode and job type.
- It checks the postcode. The site postcode is compared with your list of congestion charge postcodes, using strict matching. SW1 is a match. SW10 is not.
- It adds the charge. Qualifying jobs receive a dated, chargeable cost line at your price, with the right tax code and the right pricing treatment for the job type, including call-outs and out-of-hours work.
If the site is outside your congestion charge postcodes, the job carries on unchanged.
When your prices change, the rate is updated once and applies to every new job from then on.
Your team sees what needs attention
Every stage of the workflow is monitored. If a step can't complete, your team receives an email naming the step and the reason, whether that's a job that can't be found, a postcode that can't be checked or a cost line that can't be saved.

Frequently asked questions
No. It records the charge on the job so it can be invoiced to your customer. Paying TfL stays separate, for example through TfL Auto Pay.
It uses strict matching against your list, so SW10 isn't treated as SW1 and SE11 isn't treated as SE1. The list reflects your billing rules. For confirming whether a specific address sits inside the zone, TfL provides an official postcode checker.
TfL charges once per vehicle per day, however many jobs it attends. How you share that cost across customers is your decision, and the workflow is set up to follow your policy for multiple visits in a day.
The approach works well for other location-based costs, such as access fees, parking or regional surcharges. ULEZ needs additional rules because it depends on each vehicle's emissions standard, not just the site postcode.
